Hooge & Lage Zwaluwe

The life of the first Slings-people in the Northern Netherlands took place around the Biesbosch. Peter Slings probably had three children (born around 1585), of whom Cornelis (the ancestor of the present Slings-people) moved to 's-Gravendeel, and Gerrit -- probably a laywer -- and Mayke lived in Hooge & Lage Zwaluwe.

The grandson of Cornelis, Leendert Cornelis (about 1633-after 1695), moves from 's-Gravendeel to the Moerdijk, which management fell under Hooge & Lage Zwaluwe. His two sons Isaac and Cornelis are responsible for a large amount of Slings-people in Zwaluwe in the 18th century. According to the chronicles they were mainly fishermen. Isaacs son Leendert (1705-after 1756) is a sailor and moves in 1745 to Oost-Duiveland (now Bruinisse in Zealand). The other Slings-branches in Zwaluwe distinct at the end of the century.
